Phillies Draft Former
Pirate!!!
For the 3rd
year in a row a former
Pirate baseball player has
been selected during
Major League Baseball's
first year player draft.
Justin Beal, who played at
ICC during the 2006 and 2007
seasons, was drafted in the
28th round by the
Philadelphia Phillies.
Beal, who recently finished
his college career at
Missouri Southern in Joplin
Mo, is the older brother of
Josh Beal who was selected
in the 2007 draft by the
Cincinnati Reds following
one season with the Pirates.
Jon Nagel was selected by
the Chicago Cubs during the
2008 draft.

All-Conference Recognition!
Jesse Kinzey, Sam McGill,
Cade McKewon and Andrew Gray
were voted to the All
Jayhawk Eastern Conference
team. Kinzey, a
Freshman from Catoosa
Oklahoma, was selected to
the first team after hitting
.375 with 5 HR and 14
doubles. Kinzey also
started 11 games for the
Pirates on the mound,
posting a 5-4 record with a
3.98 ERA and 3 complete
games. When Kinzey was
not pitching he spent time
at First Base and Left
Field. Along with his
first team honors Kinzey was
also selected to the
All-Region team which is
made up of the top players
from the East and West
divisions of the Jayhawk
Conference.
McGill, a sophomore
Shortstop, batted .413 with
19 doubles; Gray, a
sophomore 1B/DH, batted .382
with 16 doubles; And
McKewon, a freshman 3B, hit
.405 with 6 HR's were all
voted Second Team
All-Conference.
